Thank You Everyone for the Easter Baskets
We successfully filled 60 fun-filled baskets for the children at
Chugiak Children's Services this Easter. Thank you to all who donated
and participated in this giving to our community. Many children had a
basket for Easter who would otherwise not have had one. They were
DELIGHTED !!!!!!!!!

Confirmation Study Nears the Finish Line
Our Confirmation Teams will be wrapping up their program in the early
weeks of May. The groups began their exploration of faith in February.
They've been reading the Gospel of Luke, studying aspects of worship,
learning what being a servant of Christ is all about and investigating
numerous other topics.
Let's keep all five of the teams in our prayers, especially now as
the Confirmands try to decide whether they will join our church or not.
Those who do decide to join will do so on the 18th of May, but all of
the Confirmands and Mentors will be honored at a reception following the
11 a.m. service. You are all invited to join them in the Family Life
Center.
Safety Alert
When you or your group has finished using a room, the door leading to
the hallway should be closed.
The hallways are fire corridors and keeping them closed will increase
the safety of firefighters and any occupants should a fire break out.
Closing the door to an unoccupied room could save a life.
A Big, Hearty Welcome to Our New Members

Report from the Missions Committee
The committee offered Gruening and Mirror Lake Middle Schools money
for a scholarship program to assist students in need who wish to
participate in sports programs. Both schools received $250.00 this
winter. Scott Batchalder, principle at Mirror Lake, wrote a thank you
note letting us know that at least two students have benefited from our
donation.

Letter Carriers Food Drive
Did you forget to bring a donation for the Food Bank?
You have another chance! Support the Letter Carriers
“STAMP OUT HUNGER” Food Drive on Saturday, May 10. Just
put your non-perishable donation in a bag by your mailbox (in
Eagle River ). Your letter carrier will deliver it to the
Eagle River Food Pantry for you. In Chugiak, donations may
be dropped off in the Post Office lobby. Collection
barrels will also be in place at Carrs and Fred Meyers, to make
it super-easy and convenient. An estimated 4 percent of
Americans, many of them children, are forced to skip meals, eat
too little, or even go without food for an entire day. If
each one of us cares for one of our neighbors in need, we can
greatly reduce the likelihood of this happening in Chugiak or
Eagle River . UMCC’s long association with the Eagle River
Food Pantry is a great tradition….let’s keep it up!
