UMYF Update
By the time you’re reading this our Garage Sale (April 26th) and
Cinco de Mayo Dinner and Silent Auction (May 3rd) will have come and
gone. We thank you for your continued support and prayers as we prepare
for our trip to Mexico.
To prepare ourselves, the Youth participated in one of two retreats
this winter. We read what Jesus said in Matthew 5:13 “You are like salt
for everyone on earth.” (CEV) We explored what salt was used for and
what Jesus might have meant then and now. We see ourselves as the flavor
and preservative of life. We want to be that flavor and preservative in
the lives of those we meet next month. We looked at two other
scriptures: 1 Sam 17:41-54 where David meets and slays Goliath. And Luke
21: 1-4 in which the widow puts all she has into the offering. We are
both the young boy who no one expects to be able to take on the giant,
but who through God’s power can do anything, and the widow who gave more
by giving all she had. We hope to live up to these two characters and
bring life and hope to two families.
We don’t know (as of this writing) whether we are building two
“standard” houses or one “double” house. We do know that Amor Ministries
has work for us to do, and we are ready to do it.
We ask for your continued prayers as we gather our gear and hopes and
head south.
Grace and Peace, Sandra |
