From the Children’s Garden to the Food Pantry
Our Sunday School children planted vegetables in our Children’s
Garden on May 18 – thanks to the kids and to the parents who brought
plants and helped. Thanks to the Newkirk family. Also, a special thank
you for the topsoil provided by Mel Bownes’ Planet Earth landscape
company. We also have an impressive potato patch with raised beds.
Quick-growing veggies have been seeded over the potatoes to harvest
before the potatoes. We have already delivered ten pounds of rhubarb to
the Food Pantry, with more to come. Next (moose permitting) should be
the green onions, lettuce and radishes, followed later in the summer by
squash, celery, and peas. We plan to close the season with a Big Potato
Dig by the kids. The Food Pantry appreciates this mission.
